Laugavegur
This project is a men's outerwear collection of printed textiles, with a focus on functionality, inspired by the Laugavegur trek I completed over the summer in Iceland. I have drawn inspiration from the variety of different landscapes including geothermal springs; volcanic sand deserts; rhyolite mountains; and glaciers. Since Covid, there has been an increasing widespread desire to adopt a healthier lifestyle and become more connected to nature in a world that is so dominated by technology. Whilst undertaking the 4-day trek, I thoroughly enjoyed disconnecting from my phone and immersing myself within nature. When translating my imagery into prints I have taken a graphic and abstract approach, which has an emphasis on extracting motifs and texture with the aim of making the user feel one with the landscape.
